K2

The K2 Provincial program is for racers age 13-14 who train at Rabbit Hill but also extensively at Marmot Basin and in the Bow Valley.  At this level, athletes travel with coaches and chaperones in our team vans.  The focus begins to transition to a blend of skill development and peak athletic performance.  These athletes compete in the Alberta Alpine Provincial K2 race series with competitions across the province.  Athletes can qualify for National and International level K2 races and Rabbit Hill has been well represented at these events.  At this level, the physical conditioning component is not optional and begins in August.  Through the Alberta Sports Development Centre the off snow program covers conditioning as well as mental skills and nutrition.

Dryland training (included in K2) runs from September to November three times a week.  The training focuses on physical conditioning and athletic skills required for success on the ski hill.
