FIS U 18

FIS (16+yrs)

As with all RHSC programs, the Junior program offering has two commitment levels.  The Regional program trains primarily at Rabbit Hill and races in the North Region (Edmonton, Red Deer & finals in Jasper).  This is a competitive program that aims to minimize cost and travel time, and keep our older athletes involved in the sport.

The FIS/U 18 program is our most competitive and committed program for elite level athletes from Edmonton and Northern Alberta.  This program covers 10 months (July to April) and is built around 100 to 110 days on snow, including summer and fall camps.  Included is a rigorous physical conditioning program in partnership with the Alberta Sports Development Centre, where trained professionals in their fields, work with our athletes on physical conditioning, mental skills and proper nutrition.  The program aims to graduate skiers to the Alberta Ski Team, develop future elite level coaches and confident, well rounded young adults.  Effort is made to keep some balance between family, school and ski racing but with an extensive training and racing calendar, this program is clearly for the focused athlete who can learn to work independently and manage their time.   These athletes compete in the Alberta Cup FIS Race Series and other events that individual athletes may qualify to attend.
