Nancy Greene Training starts Saturday

The Nancy Greene program will have training on Saturday morning at Rabbit Hill starting at 9am.    The Hill will be open with the rope tows and chair lift running.    Weeknight training will commence on Tuesday and the hill is expecting to have the t-bar running by then.
A few important points for Saturday.
1.  Meeting place will be outside the daylodge at 9 am with lift tickets/passes – go forward the kids meet outside the clubhouse for warmup
2.  Season intro meeting for Nancy Greene program parents – will be next Saturday November 26th – in the clubhouse at 9am
3.  We will have a couple groups that are skiing well enough to ride the chair but not big enough to ride without an adult – a few parents to help this Saturday is needed and make yourself known to me or the coaches on Saturday morning – once the t-bar is running the kids can ride on their own.

4.  Grocery cards and raffle tickets – please see Heather in the clubhouse between 9am  & 10am to get your book of raffle tickets and any grocery cards you need

See you on the snow!!!

Ski Tuning Equipment and Wax Offers

Maintenance of your young racers equipment is absolutely critical for effective training and skill development in the sport of alpine skiing.    If you are already proficient at tuning, your ‘kit’ may need some upgrades and if you are new to this part of the sport, one or two nights in the wax room and you will be on your way.

If you couldn’t make it to the swix clinic earlier this week, you can still have access to the special pricing on tuning equipment and wax that is available to members of our club.  The details are in the attached.  If you are unsure of what you ‘need’ then please talk to Jason or Jim at Pacesetter and they can answer your questions.  Special pricing is available until Nov 15th.  After the 15th it is all available at 20% off retail but this pricing is much better than that.

E2 Accelerated Program Information

The E2 Accelerated Program is new this year.   Just a quick note on who it is for, what it is & why we are offering it.

Who:  Open to all 9 & 10 year olds in the regular RHSC programs

What:  One three day early season camp plus 5 Sunday morning training sessions at Rabbit Hill

Why:  Alpine Canada – through Sport Science – have identified that the most optimal training time for kids to learn the basic technical skills for alpine ski racing is from 9 years old to 12 years old.   The Alpine Canada AIM2WIN long term athlete development guide suggests that at this age, an optimum calendar is 55 days of training and 6 race starts.  In reviewing the calendar for North Zone Nancy Greene we have not enough training and too many race starts.    To get the Rabbit Hill Nancy Greene program to these targets the E2 Accelerated Program was created.   With a small number of skiers these 8 additional days on snow will be high quality & have a low athlete to coach ratio.  This program isn’t for everyone, but I think it is an important addition to our program offering at this level.

How much: $75 for coaching & $125 to your racer account to cover coach expenses for the 3 day early season camp

If you are interested you can register through Rhonda Bear. If you have questions please contact Dave Lawson, Alpine Chair  or Kim Brydges  the Nancy Greene Head Coach

Pre Season Nancy Greene Camp Update

Please be advised that   that the pre-season camp at Marmot on November 19-21 is for E2 skiers in the accelerated program only. The Accelerated Program is new this year.  It is for 9 & 10 yr olds only, and combines the regular E2 program with a pre-season camp and 5 Sundays of training with the K1s.  If you are interested in signing up for the Accelerated Program please contact Rhonda Bear.  The deadline to register for this camp is October 18.  For more information please contact Dawn Haines
